Test Landing Page With Google Optimizer
Google Optimizer is free if you have a Google Adwords account (. Begin by signing in to your Adwords account and selecting the Campaign Management tab. Next, choose the Website Optimizer tab. The first time you access Google Optimizer you will need to click on the Get Started button to continue where you will be asked to sign up for an Analytics account (just a simple “I agree” to the terms and conditions). You will now find yourself on the Experiment List page, which will display summaries of your experiments (once you have created some). Click on Create New Experiment to begin your first test.
1. Choosing the page you want to test
The first thing you need to do is to identify a web page you want to test. For example, this may be your homepage or product detail page
2. Create alternate versions of your test page
You will need to have a unique URL up and running on your site for each different version of the page you wish to try. These should be similar and make sense since you will want to keep these URL’s active after testing to accommodate users who may have bookmarked your site at that URL. An example with the homepage would be www.yourwebsitehere.com/home for one page and yourwebsitehere.com/homepage for another. Optimizer will randomly show different users the different pages and track the results
3. Identify your “THANK YOU” page
This is an established page on your site that your users reach when they have completed a conversion. A conversion might be making a purchase, signing up for a newsletter or whatever
